> group chats are paused. your agent answers you in your private thread today, and this page says so the day it can join a group again.

your agent is not taking group chats today. on 7 October we switched off the part that carries a group's messages to your agent, and a group message now goes unread rather than reaching it.

## why are group chats paused?

so that everyone in a group gets a smaller set of tools than you do. in your private thread your agent acts for you. in a group, anyone can talk to it, so a group should get its own, narrower list, such as looking things up, and never your money, your files or your accounts. groups come back when your agent runs a group's conversation with that narrower list.

## what happens if someone adds it to a group?

nothing reaches it. the group's messages are not read and nothing is sent back. your private thread with your agent is not affected.

## when will groups be back?

when that work is done. we do not put a date on it here, because a date on a docs page outlives the plan it came from. this page changes the day groups are back.
